GO EAST
History, Nature & the Future
How much of the future is hidden in the past?
Embark on a journey through time:
From Insel der Jugend, paddle to Oberschöneweide, all the way to the Peter-Behrens-Bau – where Berlin once embraced the dawn of modernity as the “Electropolis.” Along one of Europe’s largest contiguous industrial heritage sites, you’ll experience historic factory facades from the water and feel the elegance, power and pride of a bygone era up close.
But history doesn’t stop here: Where new technologies and bold visions once shaped the future, new forms, solutions and ideas are emerging again today. Amidst an impressive industrial backdrop, urban nature and modern uses, the spirit of progress is tangible – inviting you to be inspired.

GO WEST
Harbour, History & Curiosities
Berlin was once said to have been “built from the barges” – and nowhere can this history be experienced more directly than from the water. On the guided SpreeXplorer canoe tour, you’ll paddle from Insel der Jugend to Osthafen, once Berlin’s largest industrial harbour, following the traces of Berlin’s industrial history: historic harbour facilities, striking architecture and remnants of times gone by. You’ll paddle alongside an almost 500-metre-long concrete pier – one of the last remnants of the former water border between East and West.
You’ll also paddle over a sunken U-Bahn tunnel – a piece of transport history hidden deep beneath the water. Along the way, surprising stories and Berlin curiosities await, experienced from the front row, paddle in hand.
